“I’m just ‘playin’ the role.’” JOHN HARRIS, MERIDIAN, MISSISSIPPI CITY COUNCILMAN, to Lucinda Johnson, Executive Assistant to Christ’s Church In Action, when she asked him why he is always nice to her and the Demerses in public but then acts mean, vicious, and frightening behind the scenes when talking to them on the phone or when no one else is looking. (This  quote was stated by Councilman Harris on March 5, 2009, at the Ribbon cutting ceremony at The Stitchery, a new business in Meridian, Mississippi.) 

Quotes upon Quotes: John Harris has, at various times, told Pastor Demers and his wife that they should just “get out of town.” He has said this on more than one occasion. He has also told them they should just “drop it, and let it go.”  

Notes on the Quotes: Maybe people with that kind of thinking suppose that we Jews should have been told that after what was done to us...or any other oppressed group… “Why don’t you just drop it, and let it go?”  Hate to be blunt here, but that’s disgusting.
