Thoughts to contemplate xxxxxxxxxxxx… 

Do you really think that (persons who have) committed crimes against civil rights laws, especially when there is a church involved, and who (have) committed crimes against humanity, including against children, should be overlooked because of the “great train station” and the other amenities in your city? 

Seems that’s the type of thought that allowed Hitler to succeed, and that allowed the Roman Empire to be built on the backs of slaves. 

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (I’m in my late 60’s)…but take some advice from somebody that has an objective viewpoint, and who does not have his finger in the Meridian pie. Even as an atheist, I can see that your casual attitude towards the heinousness of what has been achieved by John Robert Smith and his cronies seems to indicate that you have been blinded by a world of material things and finances which has buried your integrity so deep that you can no longer reach it.  

I pity you. 

Perhaps you should consider asking Pastor Demers to share with you some of the concepts from that book he totes around. Even I can see that you could be helped; I may be an atheist, but in that book it says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” [1] 

I understand that you call yourself a Christian—well, I call you a hypocrite. It is people like you who cause people like me to lose our faith in God. 

By the way, regarding your suggestion to the victims (the Demerses, Lucinda Johnson and others) to “hire a lawyer”: 

Ø      Are you not aware that these people have absolutely NO assets of their own?

Ø      Are you not aware that they have no income other than for sustenance?

Ø      Are you not aware that they are in no position to hire a lawyer?

Ø      Are you not aware that they have beliefs (contrary to mine) that do not allow them to hire lawyers?

Why do you think we here at The Arm of Justice have volunteered to help them? Maybe it hasn’t dawned on you, Wealthy One, that (there are some people who) have given their lives and fortunes up to do something that does not benefit them financially. 

I think personally that you just use that lawyer comment as an excuse because you do not want to do the right thing as a private citizen. If someone in a position such as yours were to speak out, it would make a huge difference. I understand that you refused to even lift a finger to make a phone call to the attorney general on behalf of the victims when Ms. Johnson asked you to, and that you were bragging about being a personal friend of the governor, but that when Ms. Johnson asked you to talk to him, you refused. 

____________, you know what’s really sad? You do not even realize that what I am saying is true. You are so deficient in your morals that you can’t see, and so derelict as a Christian and as a citizen, that you can’t hear what is being said; therefore you cannot speak up for justice. 

Haven’t you ever heard “All that is necessary for evil to succeed is for decent human beings to do nothing”?  

It almost makes me think that you are not only aware but you do not even care. You are looking the other way on the most heinous things committed right in your city. The problem is that “fine, upstanding members of the community” such as you are the ones who keep the kingpins of evil in their place. They know that they can count on you to keep your mouth shut—and you are doing a good job at it. 

John Robert Smith knew he could count on you to keep quiet. The person or persons who lit the match knew they could count on you. The cop who did not investigate the arson and disparaged the victims knew he could count on you. Yes, corruption in Meridian can count on you.  

You are the enabler. 

You are representative of what’s wrong with America.

P.S. Do you have any comprehension of what Mrs. Demers must have been feeling having her children hurt, being the victim of an arson, having other people saying they are going to kill her and her husband, etc.? And all you could comment was “the mayor’s a great guy, he did a great train station”? The sad thing is, you probably do not have any comprehension of what she has gone through.

Let’s say that John Robert Smith had done to your family (and spouse) and children what he has done to the Demerses…would you want someone to tell you, “we should do nothing to him because he did a great train station”? 

What you have is more concern for the corrupt in our society and what their associates think of you than for the lives of children and viability of Christians you don’t agree with. 

You--who could be such a boon and benefit to your city...You, the well-to-do, privileged, and respected, who are well positioned to purge the evil from our society just by speaking out, are instead “enablers and protectors” and proponents of the very evil that permeates our political, government, and legal system…by your silence. 

Think…those who are wicked and evil in their hearts like John Robert Smith cannot help themselves. 

The real villains in our society are (people) like you who know better and just look the other way. Shame, shame, shame on you. I do pity you. You poor, misguided, myopic, vile excuse for a “Christian.” 

You certainly are quite representative of all of your selfish, self-seeking, ego-filled ilk that permeates our wealthy society in communities throughout the land.
