MORE RECENT PICTURES OF WADE AND PATTI--BRUNCH AT THE COUNTRY CLUB

These pictures are of Wade and Patti at a country club near the Gulf of Mexico, where they went for brunch while on a recent trip.

As Patti explained, “Even though, at the time, we were away for ‘R & R’ from the stress and fatigue from the persecution, we were, as always, ‘on’ and available to be used in ministering God’s word to those He guides us to.  In this case, the contact was actually made while enjoying our meal.

“Words were shared back and forth, and that person’s interest in God’s word, along with that person’s desire to receive more input from us, led to a lively and enjoyable discussion. (continued after next picture)

“As God would have it, as we were leaving the country club, we felt that God was urging us to go to the drawing room.  The individual we had been conversing with in the dining room was sitting alone at a table in this expansive, dark-wood paneled, fireplaced, cozy ‘getaway’ that is part of the club.

“As we walked in, the person looked up and it seemed, as if almost expecting us, began the conversation where we had left off earlier.  Almost immediately we were invited to sit down, as the person asked specific questions and allowed us to show them the answers directly from the Bible. (continued after next pictures)

“As happens to us often, the person was quite excited and expressed that they had not been able to get answers to these questions over many years with many pastors from different parts of the country.

“Of course, we suggested, as we always do, that this person begin reading their Bible at least 10 pages every day:  7 or 8 from the Old Testament, and 2 or 3 from the New.  And, as usual, we gave them one of our pens with the phone number on it, in case they had further questions.

“The person seemed delighted with our whole encounter, which, of course, is not unusual when we are dealing with reasonable thinking people who are not bound up in their own personal prejudices and biases, and because of their calling, have respect for the written word of God.

“Jesus said, in Mark 6:4, ‘A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and among his own relatives and in his own household.’ (continued after next picture)

“Within a few weeks of our return to Meridian, we received a phone call from this individual, who asked if we minded if they came to Mississippi to visit us at our home at the Mt. Zion ministry residence…and that they had a strong desire to discuss things more and still had some questions in their heart.

“At our home we had a delightful time of coffee, brunch, and conversation, centered around this person’s questions, and, of course, all of the questions were answered directly by us from the word of God, the Bible.

“One of the things this person shared is that, since the day we had suggested it, they had been reading their 10 pages, and found it to be edifying, refreshing, and more than useful. (continued after next pictures)

“You see, Berachot, much of Wade’s work today is in that part of evangelism of planting seeds.  Of course, we are just the planters, God causes the growth, as in 1 Corinthians 3:6-9.   Over time, the reaping will come.

“As you know from your past experience with us years ago, we are not trying to add to some ‘tithe-building machine’ by just bringing gross numbers into a single point of assembly…but rather we are practicing that true evangelism which plants the seed of the word of God in the hearts of those He has called, so that God can cause the growth of that seed so that the people will come to the place that they will be ready to deny themselves, take up their cross and follow Jesus…and then God will gather them as He has said in His word.

“Wade and I truly believe what it says in the book of Psalms, Chapter 126, verse 5:  “Those who sow in tears will reap with joyful shouting.”

“And Berachot, one day I truly believe that you shall see, if you live long enough, the time when God gathers those who are scattered.  Consider this, Berachot, what God says in Isaiah Chapter 56:  ‘…yet others I will gather to them, to those already gathered.’

Then, if you can believe, Patti actually suggested to me, the atheist, that I read:

            Zephaniah 2, verses 1 and 3, and Chapter 3, verses 8-20

            Matthew 23:36-39

            John 7:17 and

            Isaiah 54, the whole chapter

            Jeremiah 3:14 and 15

and the scriptures on the new pens: Hebrews 12:18-23, Psalm 125 all, and Psalm 126 all

She went on to say, “You know, our old dear friend Berachot, I really believe that if you’ll open your eyes and soften your heart, and again read those scriptures, in light of all you've watched us go through over these years, you’ll begin to see what you had glimpsed years ago, but now you are blinded to.

“Please, Berachot, also read: 2 Corinthians 4, the whole chapter.

“We love you.  We don’t want you to perish because of your doubt and disbelief.” (continued after next picture)

You know, that is one of the things that I like about this couple, Wade and Patti…they never give up hope.  They really believe that book, and…they haven’t even given up on this ornery old Jew.
